Retirement Employer Training: Retirement Benefits (1.5 day class)

A comprehensive one and one-half day employer training class on retirement benefits for benefits administrators and other personnel. Our Field Services team conducts this training in small, informal sessions that encourage participation and welcome any questions or comments. The class is held at PEBAs office in Columbia. Day one begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Day two begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Day one of training includes an introduction to the PEBA-administered retirement systems, membership and enrollment, payroll reporting, service purchase, and a brief overview of the S.C. Deferred Compensation Program. Day two of training includes the retirement process, leaving covered employment (refunds), death claims, and the Electronic Employer Services (EES) website.

You will need to provide your own training materials. The seven presentations (from Introduction to Death claims) are available at http://www.peba.sc.gov/rtrainingresources.html. The PEBA Covered Employer Procedures Manual is also available online at www.peba.sc.gov, but is not required for the training. If you are unable to attend, please email Field Services as soon as possible at fieldservices.retirement@peba.sc.gov.
