The State Health Plan continues to be one of the most affordable health insurance plans available for public employees, according to the latest survey of peer programs.

The Plan’s total composite premium was the second lowest among Southern states in 2026. Nationally, the total composite premium was the fifth lowest. The Plan remains competitive with other regional states in terms of plan design, as well. It was below the average for annual deductible and coinsurance maximum amounts in 2026, and it had one of the lowest office visit copayments.
