PEBA offers several insurance employer training classes throughout the year. Printed copies of the presentations will not be available at the trainings. Other useful resources, such as the Benefits Administrator Manual and the Insurance Benefits Guide, are available online but are not required for the training. Insurance Benefits Training
This comprehensive, two-day employer training is for benefits administrators and other staff who administer insurance benefits. These small, informal sessions encourage participation, and staff welcome any questions or comments. The class begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. each day. On Day One, we will cover information about when to offer insurance to eligible employees, the available insurance benefits and how to administer benefits when an employee has a change in status, such as unpaid leave or a reduction of hours. On Day Two, we will cover information about the tools and resources used to administer insurance benefits, including Employee Benefits Services (EBS), MyBenefits and others.
This half-day employer training is for benefits administrators and other staff who administer COBRA. The information will assist you in counseling an employee who loses insurance coverage due to a voluntary termination, an involuntary termination or a reduction in hours. You will also learn about compliance with federal COBRA regulations.
This half-day employer training is for benefits administrators and other staff who administer MoneyPlus, the state’s flexible benefits program. You’ll learn about the benefits of MoneyPlus and operational procedures, and how to educate and enroll employees.
Retirement, Disability and Death
This half-day employer training is for benefits administrators and other staff who counsel employees on their retiree insurance benefits. You’ll also learn about administering insurance benefits upon the death of an employee.
